When you create the online store with eComNation, your store URL is http://mystorename.my39shop.com. You can change the URL to a domain name of your own such as http://mystorename.com.


Note: 

  • ecomnation doesn't provide domain registration service. You can purchase domain name directly from services like Godaddy, network solution etc. 
  • When you purchase your domain name from such services, in many cases people end-up buying web hosting space. When you are setting up the store with eComNation, you do not require to purchase a separate hosting account. 



Follow these simple steps to connect your domain name with eComNation, The example illustrates settings you need to make in ecomnation panel and Godaddy domain management panel.




Step1: Settings in eComNation admin panel


  1. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Domain Setup
  2. Enter your domain name in the field 'Configure your unique domain name' e.g. mystorename.com (don't add 'www' or 'http://'
  3. Hit Save Changes
Please note that your domain name is yet not active. But, ecomnation starts looking up for its IP address connected with a domain name that you have specified in order to connect. Since you have not made any changes in your domain control panel, the domain will not be activated.

Step 2: DNS settings in your domain control panel (E.g. Godaddy)
  1. Login to your Godaddy Account
  2. Click on link called 'Manage My Domain' under 'Control Panel Link' in navigation menu after you log in
  3. You will see list of registered domain
  4. Click on the domain name. This will take you to domain related settings
  5. Click on a tab called 'DNS Zone File'
  6. You will settings related to zone files. Don't get overwhelmed!
  7. You should spot a section called A(Host). you will not see any records here
  8. Click on link called 'Add Record'
  9. You will be prompted to ask 'Record Type' and a list inside the drop down menu. Select A (Host) from the list
  10. Enter '@' sign in text field called 'Host'
  11. Enter 104.199.156.170 in a text field called 'Point To'
  12. Keep TTL settings as default
  13. Hit Finish
  14. The zone file is not yet saved, you need to save zone file by clicking a 'Save' button which will appear after you add A (Host)

Also find the few simple steps with which you can do domain forwarding:



  1. Click on Domains
  2. Select Domain that you want to forward. 
  3. Click on Manage DNS for that Domain. you will be moving to another page.
  4. Scroll down and you will find Domain forwarding section.
  5. Now, You can see two area Domain and Sub- Domain. Go to Domain and Click on ADD button beside that.
  6. In "Forward To" enter the main domain name in which you want to forward to and Forward type will be 301(permanent) and setting option would be forward only.
  7. And save this. 



You are done with configuration and forwarding domain. Generally, such settings to get activated takes about 12 to 48 hours depending on your domain registrar. The basic concept of connecting domain name with eComNation store remains the same across all the domain registrars. Steps to reach might vary.
